Academic writing is formal, citations + evidence.

Can't ever be clear enough!
First person pronouns to be used more in soc. sciences than hard sciences.
Don't dismiss the role of subjectivity, acknowledgement of personal biases.
Writing in regards to comfort. Write with the human voice. "Sounds like us when we're speaking formally"
Specialized vocabulary--carefully. Avoid leaving people feeling left out.
Source of evidence will vary by discipline.
Consider how much to push boundaries. Humour is an example.
